"In the distant past, the Illuminati created the Verdras — biological weapons built from the deadliest prehistoric traits. When pollution drained the region’s mana, the only force capable of stopping them, the Verdras grew uncontrollably and devoured everything, nearly driving themselves to extinction before mana returned and poisoned the survivors."
